Athletic Club de Bilbao are one of the giants of Spain and the most successful side from the Basque country. They’ve built a strong identity and style of playing alongside some typical Basque values; hard work, guile, athleticism and a never give up attitude.
While major honours have eluded them this century (Supercups excluded), the past records speak for themselves having eclipsed both Madrid clubs in Copa del Rey victories and only trailing the modern Big 3 in La Liga titles.
The old stadium has since been knocked down and replaced by the new similarly named San Mames which can be seen in the next football vlog. The stadium matches the label bestowed upon the old ground: ‘el Catedral’.
